Quill knew enough to know he was in more trouble than he thought he was
when he was standing outside Rocket's room. Might as well take the
plunge into the lake of acid
"When Thor told me what happened, I'm the one who told him not to tell
you," He said. "You were so happy here and I had seen what happened the
first time Groot..."
He trailed of and rubbed his face with the palm of his hand.
"I was trying to protect you and yes I know you don't need my
protection, but you're my friend and friends do stupid things some
times to try and be nice to other friends and I thought I was helping,
okay?" He explained. "And besides...."
Quill leaned on his knees and looked at the palms of his hands.
"We shouldn't have let it get that far," he said. "We should have stopped
Thanos on Titan and we failed. I let you and Groot and everyone down and I
didn't want to admit that to you."
